Grow your own produce

Plant trees

Plant your own fruit tree in the garden.  It will absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, provide shade when hot and absorb water when too wet.

Fruit and veg

Give growing your own fruit and vegetables a go.  You will save money and get a supply of fresh and tasty food.

If you don’t have a garden you could contact the council to see if there are any allotments in your area.  Another option is to grow salad leaves or herbs. in windowboxes or pots.  All you need is a box/pot, packets of seeds, some compost and to water occasionally.

Flowers

Instead of buying a bunch of flowers that has travelled thousands of miles to the shops, grow your own flowers.  Read the seed packets to see which ones are suitable as cut flowers.
